Tata Group would produce Apple iPhone 15 and 15 Plus in India: Report
Two 2023 iPhone series phones may be Made in India, according to a report, as Apple seeks to increase the size of its Indian manufacturing base. The Cupertino-based business may produce the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus models in India, claims TrendForce. The handsets would be put together by Tata Group, according to the report.
Apple has been speeding up the diversity of its supply sources due to geopolitical and pandemic factors, with India being the most well-known example of such a shift. The Tata Group in India is anticipated to become Apple's fourth iPhone manufacturer, according to TrendForce.
Tata Group will initially only receive modest orders, hence the corporation will only receive modest orders for the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus. According to the TrendForce research, Apple's relocation plan may have three effects.
The first is that the development could point to India being included in the initial shipment wave for the next iPhone series, which is anticipated to debut in September of this year. The second consequence is that Wistron will leave the nation as a result of Tata's entry into the iPhone assembly market. Not to mention that Tata Group has already acquired the Bengaluru iPhone facility of Wistron.
Last but not least, Tata will be the fourth company to build an iPhone assembly operation in India starting in 2020 for the manufacture of the iPhone 12 Pro Max. Presently, India is home to iPhone assembly sites for Foxconn, Luxshare, and Pegatron.
Even if Tata's share of assembly orders for different iPhone models is just 5% in 2023, Apple's production relocation trend is rising, according to TrendForce's analysis.
The Apple iPhone 15 series is anticipated to go on sale in September of this year. The iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro, and iPhone 15 Pro Max might be the four models that make up the 2023 iPhone series. The devices will be outfitted with Apple's A16 Bionic processor and the most recent iOS operating system.
