Pak Army On Protests Over Imran Khan's Arrest: "Situation Was Created To..."

Pakistan army termed May 9 protests a "black chapter" in country's history.

Islamabad: According to The Express Tribune, the Pakistan Army's propaganda branch, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), has referred to the May 9 events as a "black chapter" in the nation's history.

In a statement released in Urdu on Wednesday, the ISPR mentioned the demonstrations that took place following the detention of former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan. According to the ISPR, the demonstrations targeted military sites and property in particular.

No one will be permitted to impose their own laws, the military's media wing declared in a stern statement. According to a news source, the ISPR used a statement from the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) and a legislation to support Imran Khan's detention.
Following Imran Khan's detention, the army's facilities and installations came under a wave of assaults, according to the ISPR, as well as anti-army chants. It denounced those activities and expressed worry over the strategies employed by certain protesting group members.

According to a story in The Express Tribune, the military's media wing said that "soon after [Khan's arrest], there were organised attacks on army properties and installations and anti-army slogans were raised."

The ISPR denounced the demonstrators and described their behaviour as an effort to manipulate public opinion for their own constrained and self-serving ends. This is an instance of hypocrisy, the military wing declared. According to an article in The Express Tribune, it emphasised the necessity to respect Pakistan's institutions and the need of upholding law and order.

The army, according to the statement, has operated with the utmost endurance and patience for the sake of the nation. It has also demonstrated extraordinary tolerance, patience, and restraint. In a statement, the ISPR said that "as per strategy, a situation was created to use the army's response for nefarious political purposes which was thwarted by the army's vigilant response."

The statement said, "We are well aware that behind this, there were some orders, instructions, and complete planning of some nefarious leaders of the party." According to the ISPR, individuals responsible for organising, planning, and political instigation have been identified, and they will face harsh legal repercussions. According to the news source, the ISPR issued a warning that "strong and decisive action" will be taken in the event of any more assaults on military and government facilities.

People protested the detention of Imran Khan, the former prime minister of Pakistan and leader of the PTI, in Pakistan's major cities, including Lahore, Rawalpindi, Islamabad, Faisalabad, Karachi, Quetta, Mardan, Bannu, and Chilas. They also engaged in acts of violence and burning.

The angry crowd blocked highways, burned banners and tyres, and pelted homes, businesses, and vehicles with stones. Several videos that have surfaced on social media sites show groups of men approaching the gated GHQ property with sticks, which they subsequently are shown using to batter the walls. Some of the guys have their faces covered.
